Guiding Principles
Compassion and Respect:
A trusting relationship is based on attentive listening, open communication, understanding, acceptance and mutual respect. These ingredients in effective therapy that create safety and facilitate learning and growth.
Confidentiality and Security:
Having the confidence to address difficult issues requires disclosing information about yourself that you can only feel comfortable doing in a safe environment. Confidentiality is highly valued in therapy. Psychologists are bound by a strict code of conduct that ensure information you disclose will remain confidential and private. Confidentiality and duty of care will be discussed with you in the first session.
The security of your information is taken seriously, and measures are taken to ensure we will be communicating on a safe platform.
A Recognition That You Are Unique:
There’s no cookie-cutter approach here. Each person’s experience, needs and ‘map’ of the world is very individual. As such, time will be taken to understand your specific needs, obstacles and strengths and work towards the shape you wish your life to take.
Professional Expertise and a Collaborative Approach:
Psychologists have knowledge and expertise in human behaviour, processes and mechanisms that bring about positive change.

However, no-one knows your story better than you. Working together to set goals and get results is the key to success in therapy.
Evidence-based, Focused Therapy and Programs:
While there are a number of therapy approaches used by psychologists, we will be drawing on therapies and strategies that are supported by scientific research and have been shown to be effective with the type of issues you wish to address. These include, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Motivational and Mindfulness practices.
